How desperate would you be to escape?
DART is a new political party seeking to raise awareness towards the plight of illegal immigrants who have risked their lives in generally unsafe, unsanitary, and uncomfortable boats to try and find a better life in Australia. We want to give these people a voice in the media.
"Boat people" account for only 2% of Australia's immigrant intake.
And the fact is, the overwhelming majority of people trying to enter Australia via boat are ultimately assessed to be legitimate refugees. And Australia's refugee numbers will always be low because of the fact that the ocean surrounds the entire country.
But because the "boat people" are from poor, less developed parts of the world, they are being perpetrated as a threat to the Australian way of life.
Our mission is also to help these people turn out to be a hardworking group of people that contribute to the prosperity of this nation.
If you give us your vote in the next election, we will encourage our political leaders to stand up for what's right when it comes to the treatment of our fellow human beings.
